Milano and New York women collections details in the biggest existing size
The curtain is not falling on Milan despite the doors being closed in recent days. The halls are empty and all is quiet. Yet the shows go on. The runway stretches like a tightrope over these chaotic, worrying days following the coronavirus outbreak. The Milan shows go on unperturbed, filled only with beautifully-clothed models walking impeccably and silently for the benefit of an audience streaming from afar. Because, to quote Walt Whitman, the truth is “that the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse”. The collections offered by brands this season are sonnets and poems. The winter season on the New York runways seems to carry on from the latest one, with recurring themes such as airy shapes, bright colours and embellishments. It could be the metaphorical desire to change the world that, with one crisis after another, seems bent on staying grey and dark. Whatever it is, New York is determined to put on an optimistic face, showcasing vibrant colour palettes, romantic florals and touches of Victoriana along with nostalgia for times like the Sixties, as seen in Marc Jacobs’ show, which featured a Jackie Kennedy seen through the lens of ’90s minimalism…..
