Vera Wang dismantled masculine tailoring, slicing blazers above the bust to reveal the shoulders and décolleté and elongating the sleeves. These unusual looks concealed parts of the body while revealing plenty elsewhere, such as the legs, which were dressed in micro-shorts curved slightly at the hips and towered over sky high platforms. Extra-long sleeves also appeared on shirts, knits, sweatshirts and thin blouses, often worn with layered peplums, while skirts were long, sheer georgette and open at the front to reveal the legs (again). Cocktail dresses were illuminated by pearl embroideries, creating a chiaroscuro effect over transparencies, which appeared in the finale complete with trains.
