Black, which is shaping up to be one of the key colours next winter, dominated the show at Vera Wang who, perhaps tired of being associated with wedding gowns, presented a modest, minimal collection built using men’s tailoring with feminine pieces. So a wool blazer converted to a cropped jacket was worn over an extra-long skirt, or a coat with sleeves cut out at the shoulders was worn open over a mini-dress with deep V neckline or a long white tunic. In addition, a bustier top came with lace insets and extra-large trousers with elastic and drawstring waist, a shirt or wool blouse was decorated with floral appliqués, the waistband of a pair of trousers – pockets included – was inserted into a long velvet dress at hip height. Footwear included black boots with white soles. Unisex.
