Pier Paolo Piccioli continued to explore the deluxe sportswear he experimented with in his latest menswear collection by showcasing a series of utility looks made up of parkas, anoraks, cargo trousers and sophisticated vests, with sequin details and bright insets. But some of the clothes and effects were also inspired by the photograph of the Earth taken during the Apollo moon landing; the plasticized layering, utilitarian jumpsuits, big pockets on jackets and shorts, the iridescent insets and appliqués were all ‘Nasa-oriented’. Later came mini trapeze dresses with asymmetry and ruffles, transparencies, floral prints and embroidery, and you understand that the lunar, romantic side to the Valentino girl also has a frivolous yet sensual side that veers towards the glamorous.
