What happens when two creative geniuses meet? The new Valentino collection could provide an answer. Pier Paolo Piccioli met Jun Takahashi of Undercover last year in Tokyo at an exhibition on the long-standing Italian brand and the two decided to collaborate. The resulting show is a new Valentino-Undercover ‘creature’, which also appears as a logo on some of the clothes. Mainly classic pieces were integrated with sportswear because Piccioli is convinced that streetwear is not going out of fashion any time soon. Outerwear and suits featured fluid tailoring, but even the sweatshirts, jumpers and technical trousers were comfortable and worn with sneakers. Everything bore prints by Takahashi, inspired by Edgar Allan Poe, with slogans, spaceships and skulls containing both brands’ logos, often in contrasting colours.
