The sustainability issue in fashion has reached a critical point. Many designers are making more responsible choices though many are well behind Stella McCartney, who has been a leader on this subject since the beginning of her career. Her new collection is the latest demonstration of her commitment, with most of the clothes made from recycled and/or ethically produced materials. Long coats were made from waste fabrics from past seasons, long dresses were made from strips of vintage T-shirts, and other long fluid dresses had bodices decorated with materials from previous collections. Then there was tailoring made from army surplus fabrics, faux furs and sustainable viscose sourced from certified Swedish forests, without forgetting the jewellery, like the maxi necklaces decorated with colourful rubber bands.
