Who could these four guys featured in Stella McCartney’s latest collection be? As for her women’s pre-collection, the designer dedicated her new menswear show to Yellow Submarine, the psychedelic cartoon film made by the Beatles 50 years ago, which was recently remastered. And one of them featured in Pop Art style is, of course, her father, Paul. There were not only maxi portraits of the Fab Four but also patches, badges and embroideries on coats, shirts and cashmere sweaters, while colourful bands down trouser legs, a yellow coat and a beige coat provided other film references. Military-inspired pieces included many-pocketed jackets and camouflage motifs. As per the designer’s usual style, tailoring alternated or merged with sportswear and materials were exclusively eco-sustainable.
