Tailoring and lingerie were the two main components of Stella McCartney’s latest show, alongside her signature sustainability, which was represented here by the Loop trainers in knit and Alter-Nappa (faux leather) with hooks and stitching designed to avoid the use of toxic glues. The elongated, vertical silhouette was offset by layering and deconstruction, as seen in the first all-white look – an asymmetric embroidered bustier top with a two-way central zip over a slip dress and fluid trousers. The collection continued in the same vein, with sleek coats and pyjama-suits, oversize masculine pieces and embroidered slip dresses layered over knits printed with the work of semi-unknown artist J.H. Lynch. A large section of the show was given over to knitwear, with solid pieces inspired partly by Aran jumpers.
