All the shades of beige/brown opened the Ralph Lauren show, accompanying the first half of the looks. High-waist loose trousers worn with tone on tone cardigans, turtlenecks, and single and double-breasted blazers referenced the sleepy English countryside, especially in the check motifs which, paired with fringes, simultaneously recalled the American West. In the second half of the show, black and brocade were used for sumptuous Elizabethan outfits, coats and jackets, including a velvet redingote, white shirts with big collars and/or ruffs, ruches and ruffles, while the eveningwear featured velvet dresses with bustiers or fastened at the neck with a jewelled clasp. Spectacular.
