After a season spent dissecting clothes, peeling off layers like banana skins, the Proenza Schouler duo now used laces and buttons to repair them. There were long tubular dresses cut at the shoulders and abdomen but held together with strings, which also featured on long turtlenecks open at the front and worn with oversize trousers to form a triangle silhouette, narrow on top and wider below. Flared blazers and coats had side fasteners and inset laces, body-con knit dresses had cut-outs or matching crossover strips below the bust and front splits, while other dresses were held up by braces threaded through metal eyelets. Strings, straps and laces featured throughout the collection, as did layering for a winter season that tends to cover up what summer uncovered.
