It was up to Philipp Plein to fly the rock flag in a fashion week that tended to favour more intimate, romantic atmospheres. It was studs galore on the runway for a wild summer from the German designer. All the rock tropes were on show: the black leather biker jacket, the cinched outfits with skinny or ripped jeans, the concert t-shirts, the mini-skirts and mini-shorts, the black dresses. Total black gave way to total white but the tone remained the same, even when the clothes were covered with lamé. A touch of whimsy came with the ballerina tutus and the tennis skirt, the mini-dresses enveloping the body like a sweet wrapper or transforming it into a feather-covered black swan. Very few concessions to colour: red appeared on a dinner jacket covered with rose petals and barbed wire.
