Travel is always a big source of inspiration for Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, who share one of Oscar de la Renta’s passions. The Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba in Spain, in which Islamic and Christian history meet is the reference point for the decorative elements throughout the collection, but especially the most elegant pieces, the cocktail dresses and evening gowns. The daywear looked mainly to comfortable tailoring in which jackets and outfits in spicy colours were paired with check and herringbone. Daywear quickly turned to eveningwear with a series of carpet prints and fringes. Those prints continued for the rest of the show, appearing as the arabesque tessellations of Islamic decoration on the final long dress, a bustier with a flared skirt in total black.
