A darkened room and a felt carpet, illuminated photographs, video screens and stacks of vintage televisions showing work by the young New Zealand-born artist, Sharna Osborne, provided the setting for the latest Miu Miu show. The subjects were a fascinating mix of innocence and perversity featuring elements of fairy tales and allegories. Long tweed cloaks trimmed with fur or crochet, with toggles or tartan, in shearling or camouflage fitted in nicely with the atmosphere. Underneath was signature Miu Miu girl fare, from military pieces to floral mini-dresses, hot pants worn with over-the-knee socks, sheer slip dresses embellished with little flowers, and vintage skirts. Everything came with bags hanging off the arm and various types of footwear, including lace-up ankle boots and Mary Janes.
