‘How to dress for the heat in the city without looking sloppy’. Michael Kors’ new collection seemed to offer an answer to the dilemma of every fashion victim, and it involved flip-flops, sarongs and bermuda shorts – in short beachwear for the New York streets. The solution lies in mixing them with oversize menswear tailoring, producing a relaxed yet deluxe, airy yet sophisticated look. There were T-shirts, sundresses, shorts and sarongs with tie-dye or tropical prints worn with long blazers, XL shirts with extra-long sleeves and soft trenches – all embellished with pseudo-Hawaiian garlands, brown leather belts and large rattan or leather bags. Evening wear had the same style but looked to the tuxedo jacket, iridescence and black.
