Junya Watanabe continues with the collaboration with streetwear and outdoor brands that he has explored in recent seasons. Carhartt, New Balance, Levi’s, North Face, and other logos appeared on technical parkas and jackets featuring lots of pockets, zips and reflective strips, which also featured on trousers. These were practical details for the urban man, cyclist or pedestrian on dark winter nights. As in past collections, Watanabe injected utilitarian and workwear credentials into an urban context in which functionality dictates the style. This also went for the accessories, as seen in a nylon bag that converted to a blazer. The combination of utility and tailoring made for some eye-catching results, such as technical or work outerwear inset with checks and/or structured like blazers.
