Take a Victorian girl and immerse her in the New York’s 21st century nightlife; Jill Stuart’s party girl with kohl rimmed eyes is the end result. In this latest collection, she wore tight mini-skirts but especially loved midi length or extra-long dresses and skirts paired with knits and blouses so thin they looked transparent, even though they had high necks and bib fronts. Some of the flounced long dresses looked a little uncomfortable, but freedom of movement was assured by the high-waist velvet flares or the asymmetric slip dresses with high split over red fishnet tights. Gloss and iridescence came from lurex, satin and chenille (which always looks a little iridescent), from crystal appliqués on black grounds and from metallic chokers.
