A desire to escape, dreams never fulfilled. The new Haider Ackermann collection channels an intimate fantasy of travel, not necessarily physical or geographical but introspective and interior. Unfulfilled aspirations of becoming a dancer translate into comfortable, relaxed clothing, made up of low-cut vests, calf-length trousers, some rolled up, and ultra-flat ballet flats. Elsewhere a desire to return to Japan, sooner or later, is seen in kimono jackets, some sleeveless, or in obi-like sashes topped with belts and scarves. Everything came with sailor stripes, rocky leather pieces, pinstripe, asymmetry and layering, which Ackermann has always used but in ever new and never expected ways.
