A dream-like collection from which you wake upon seeing an unexpected clashing detail. Alessandro Michele for Gucci continued his journey into the imagination with a series of clothes that each had a story. There was no running theme other than the genius of the creator taking ruches to dizzying heights. The dusty colours harking back to the Gucci tradition were revived with copious quantities of sequins and shimmers. The collection mixed up elements from the past such as Victorian collars, princess dresses, bubble sleeves, Greek alphabet letters, Chinese dragons and ’70s suits with pearl-trimmed lapels and bell bottoms as well as ’90s stirrup pants. Fur added warmth and one trench resembled a wicked witch’s cloak.
