For his youthful line, Giambattista Valli had fun dressing Lolitas in a mixture of innocence and transgression. There was no shortage of lace and transparencies in the collection, but romanticism outside the Giamba conventions met prints of the American desert and tigers – perhaps a sign of a desire to escape – and pink sequins on bombers and jumpsuits. Ruches, plissé, bubble sleeves and sexy and virginal little dresses in black and white confirmed the brand’s trend. Giamba used combinations of floral patterns and patchwork for a prairie girl feel, as seen in little cowgirl shirts covered in long fringes. Hemlines were mainly short, long dresses had an ethnic edge while slightly flared trousers were paired with micro bombers suitable for everyday wear.
