Fendi’s new collection focuses on letters written in reverse and switching letters around to create different meanings, which fits well with the Roman brand’s thinking, i.e. that the essence of things is hidden behind appearances. Reworking the now ubiquitous phenomenon of streetwear, the show included overcoats, blousons and anoraks over shirts, T-shirts and polo shirts worn with trousers of various lengths, shorts and bermuda shorts, some of which concealed a studied complexity, like the outerwear in sheer effect mesh or the panel that turned bermuda shorts into a skirt or the double-F jackets and bombers resembling PVC or leather, but were actually in paper-light fabric. The abundant use of black was perhaps part of the brand creating yet more mystique around itself.
