“Love Karl” was written on the runway in homage to Karl Lagerfeld two days after his death. He led the Roman brand for fifty-four years and this collection is the last love letter he signed. The new Fendi logo in graceful italics appeared on tights, furs and fluid dresses. Jackets were extra-large, linear and masculine, and had pointed collars and big bows similar to bow ties. The clothes showed off the brand’s masterful craftsmanship and tailoring. Furs were a key part of the collection: long and cosy with stripes or logos. Mink and sheepskin alternated on the runway. Skirts came in elegant plissé or mesh with soft transparencies. Understated coats, suits and white shirts teamed rigour and simplicity. The palette spanned browns, pastels, yellow, pink and a touch of black for elegance and rare intensity.
