Clarity and darkness. Ermanno Scervino’s show was a shower of crystals. Sparkling appliqués shone elegantly on menswear pieces with sharp shoulders in tailoring fabric, Prince of Wales and houndstooth, over lace slip dresses. Studs were used like jewels on slip dresses, in which lace and tulle dominated the surfaces, transforming them into refined silver encrustations. Sparkling jumpers with glittering patterns came in pastel yellow, pink and sky blue. Pieces were dotted with rhinestones, glitter, spangles, precious stones and Swarovski. Romantic jewel-collars in broderie anglaise topped little leather coats, wool overcoats in soft mohair and painstakingly intarsia’d faux furs. There were also quilted down jackets, leather duffle coats, fancy one-shoulder dresses, slim or wide-leg trousers, and sleek evening dresses with splits. For a luminous season.
