Emporio Armani’s summer show took off with impalpable dresses in soft neutral shades of turtle-dove, pale pink and stone grey. The setting was Linate airport, the first time it has been used to stage a fashion show. Fluid, soft, airy and sophisticated clothes were the order of the day. The looks featured reflections and shimmers, silk was lustrous, tops and bombers iridescent and trenches python printed. Denim overalls, in transparent organza or pinstripe fabric, came in dark blue tints. But Giorgio Armani’s aesthetic really took off when bright, energetic tints of electric blue, fuchsia and acid green came into play. Nylon raincoats had a space-like sheen. High-waist, loose, airy trousers had cascades of fringes and side bands to give a sporty touch. Tops and mini-dresses featured the brand’s initials and a sporty-chic attitude. Fringes, stripes, sequins and crystals took flight towards the future.
