“We always say that fashion is a reflection of our times. Well, maybe that’s enough of that! Let’s do something optimistic, enjoy things.” That’s how Dries Van Noten described his latest joyful, sophisticated collection, packed with bold colours, assemblies and (de)compositions of prints and fabrics that fluttered around the silhouette in a soft yet precise way. Masculine suits, blazers, shirts, coats, dressing gowns, sheaths and slip dresses had clean and sometimes oversize lines, featuring layers of organza dotted with jewels or big silk scarves applied in panels. Elsewhere, surfaces sparkled with glitter and painterly tints that ranged from shades of yellow, to lavender to gold. The footwear also had a metallic sheen, with boots in brocade or painted cloth or embroidered with sequins.
