‘Letters from War’ by Portuguese director Ivo Ferreira was adapted from love letters written by António Lobo Antunes to his wife during his time in the colonial war in Angola. This film inspired Ivan Tafuro’s new collection for streetwear brand Dondup and infused a gentler, more poetic feel here. First of all, the colours were softer; there was lots of pale pink in the floral camouflage that gained a more delicate look because of it, denim was bleached and the knitwear patterns were faded yet still bright. The tailored pieces had more relaxed, airy lines, there were few shirts and more T-shirts, hooded sweatshirts were worn under a blazer, while a ‘field jacket’ became a go-to choice in new hues and materials, such as a cotton and nylon blend that made it lighter.
