Custo Barcelona celebrated 20 years in business with a collection that, compared to its customary colourful jigsaws, felt much more minimal. Firstly the colours, which came in softer, more subdued tones, although there were some flashes of brighter shades, then the replacement of multi-coloured patchwork with glossy lamina or plastic fabrics, and finally the sophisticated/eccentric touch of the ’70s references, with big black or white square glasses, flares with athletic stripes, mini and long tunic dresses with iridescent fringing, animal prints, ethnic motifs and jewelled embroidery, plus ruches, transparencies, ruffles, strings and tassels.
