“We’re always trying to mix experimental shapes with classic silhouettes,” says Custo Dalmau, who drew inspiration for this collection from the car wash of all places, mimicking those plastic strips in a drive-thru wash with contrasting appliqués stitched to mini-dresses. The mesh insets at the neck and shoulders also seem to have the same ‘mechanical’ intention. But, aside from the car wash, this was a very Custo collection, in which ethnic motifs, geometry and psychedelic prints decorated capes, extra-long wool coats and short mini-dresses with often irregular hems, creating a captivating patchwork of textures. One new entry was black and white tartan tending towards grey or beige (on boots too) used in combination with the ethnic and the multi-coloured, just as wool featured alongside lamé or metallic insets to create a glossy-matt contrast.
