Latex, vinyl, provocative images: the “Fetish Athleisure” displayed at the Cristiano Burani show was an intriguing mix of bold tints. Using experimentation and research, the collection heightened the sense of touch. It was a total material experience featuring raised effects and extra-smooth surfaces: menswear woollens, polyurethane rubber-coating, needle-punched denim, embroidered silk tulle, strips of calendered and python chiffon, laminated leather, glossy polyester jersey. The pieces played with images and imaginations. Maxi bombers and pencil skirts came in matt latex and were covered with “Erotika” prints. Sportier pieces bore plastic-coated “Sex Stoned” appliqués. Shoulders were exaggeratedly oversize. Knitwear was sinuous and three-dimensional. Rubbery, vivid colours included watermelon, vermilion and neon orange. This is how Cristiano Burani defines the new femininity, with erotic obsessions, sporty aspects, active contaminations and fetish accessories.
