Chalayan continues to stay away from the crowd with this latest collection, which took a polemic stance against the dependency on social media and what he called ‘like’ culture and, rather than drawing inspiration from this or that, he looked solely to his own creative streak, affirming “I do what I am”. Chalayan proposed sporty key pieces and streetwear such as sweatshirts, zipped hooded jackets, shorts and baggy trousers, which featured a folding detail that ‘peeled’ the fabric, mesh insets, and braces that allowed adjustable lengths. The shirts gained buttons on the sleeves or ribbons shot through the surfaces and/or hanging laces, while some of the jackets resembled kimono. The palette was dominated by basic colours and monochrome, with a few delicate leaf prints. Canvas sneakers provided the footwear.
