Capucci certainly has a long history behind it, but whether that is enough to take it into the future remains to be seen. The relaunched brand has gone back to what made its name in the first place, but adds to it with contemporary elements for an up-to-date, eye-catching collection. The intense blue and green velvet of the dresses and trousers made everything extraordinarily alive. The red of the dresses, skirts and shirts played with a particular plissé detail that became a motif throughout the collection. The same pleats appeared on a gold skirt paired with a military jacket with matching buttons or a pink shirt trimmed in green. The plissé became sculptural in the knee-length or floor-length black evening dresses, but the precious detail in some of them came from sequins as well as tailoring.
