A dark romanticism pervaded Christopher Bailey’s collection for Burberry Prorsum, backed by a 32-piece orchestra and the voice of Alison Moyet. The very first look set the tone – an all-black outfit comprising a sheer lace mini-dress, a trench with metallic details, chunky rubber-soled sandals with decorative chain and a structured nylon backpack on the shoulders. The mix of technical and sporty elements with vintage lace and the addition of military pieces and details such as cloaks, pea coats, regimental buttons, cords and metal clasps featured throughout the collection, creating a captivating play of contrasts, which continued with floral tie-dye print dresses inset with strips of tulle and/or gilding.
