Brunello Cucinelli called his latest collection ‘The Art of Blend’, i.e. mixing the old with the new for a new everyday fashion language. Since the Cucinelli man is allergic to labels, his style cannot be classified as only ‘tailoring’ or only ‘sporty’; instead, it is a balanced mixture of elements in which layering is key. A classic camel-coloured blazer was worn under a down jacket and paired with blue cargo pants; a shirt, tie and waistcoat with a cardigan or leather jacket; a tailored coat with a sweater and jeans. These were interchangeable clothes that, based on their combinations and colours, can be used on many occasions. The most important element is the fabrics, which were light and comfortable, in patterns so micro as to appear almost solids.
