Entitled ‘Gentleman at ease’, the new Brunello Cucinelli collection was an ode to the designer’s signature relaxed elegance with a touch of precision. Although Cucinelli does not normally indulge in retro references, here he looked to Marlon Brando’s nonchalance, which is perfect for conveying that idea of relaxed comfort. Perhaps that is why two of the preferred fabrics in the collection were corduroy and moleskin, as seen in a tailored three-piece suit in a deep shade of bordeaux and a brown suit worn with a V-neck sweater and striped shirt. There was more relaxation in the high-necked jumpers and striped turtlenecks and crew necks often worn under blazers that were a little more comfortable than usual. Men’s wardrobe staples such as tracksuits and track pants also made an appearance.
