The opening look in the Boss show ‘explained’ the entire collection, the first post-Jason Wu created by a team headed by Ingo Wilts. The focus was California and, more broadly, a desire for lightness. The first look’s light lines and fabric came in the form of a sinuous, high-necked midi-length fine-knit dress and a beige nylon trench paired with flat lace-up sandals, which were worn with almost every look, even the most elegant ones. Equally loose masculine suits were paired with sheer shirts and knits, giving a sense of fluidity that even spread to the leather pieces, which came in bordeaux or patchwork. An abstract roadmap of Los Angeles was printed on some of the dresses in a repetitive block design, creating a real ‘Californian’ feel with a sporty touch.
