‘You only know my name, not my story.’ ‘Your comments I don’t mind.’ ‘Hate with passion is love.’ ‘Don’t put your blame on me.’ ‘I’m under no obligation to reply’. Olivier Rousteing featured these statements on shirts, knits and T-shirts not as mere decorations but as messages to his detractors and to those who criticise and comment just for the sake of picking a fight. Rousteing continued his own personal crusade in a succession of glossy looks ranging from velvet dinner jackets to bouclé jackets, some in a biker version, worn with low crotch or skinny trousers or track pants with side bands. The almost total domination of black and white was interrupted by blue denim, which was paired in a series of looks with leather, satin and other fabrics. These were followed by houndstooth outfits before the slogans appeared in the finale like a collective ‘je m’en fous’ to the world outside the runway.
