Olivier Rousteing is not about to abandon the strong, wild femininity for which the Balmain woman is known. Quite the contrary, he confirmed it by showcasing an army of Amazonians in kohl-rimmed eyes and sky-high pirate boots. Exotic from the palette of brown, gold and black up, the collection included hyper-constructed looks made up of layering, embroidery, embellishments of all types, from wolf pack motifs to tie-dye to animal, from studs to interweaving to contrasting insets – all emphasised by gilding and thick fringing that added movement to a silhouette defined by tiny suede dresses, tops with cut-outs, wraparound leather mini-skirts and crocodile body shield-belts. Knitwear was also fringed and frayed, while outerwear ranged from structured leather jackets to extra-long coats in check tweed.
