The new Anna Sui collection, entitled ‘Poptimism’, was flashy and at times electric, offering a playful explosion of colours, patterns and chaotic and luxurious mix & match. The 53 looks represented the designer’s story, from her upbringing in Detroit to New York, the ’60s technicolor hairstyles and kohl-rimmed eyes, the flared tunics, fake fur coats, patterned or lurex tights. Nothing was spared an injection of colour. From the bon-ton suits to the evening wear, everything came in bold, mainly floral prints, with the addition of feathers, bows, fringes and ruches. The footwear was also varied and imaginative, from Mary Janes to boots of various lengths embellished with brightly-coloured pompoms at the side.
