A declaration of love “for the women who have taught me everything I know, for Italy, for my mother and for Vivienne Westwood.” The new collection from Andreas Kronthaler, who has been heading the brand for over a year now, is packed with references and homages to his educational and creative journey. From the sundresses pulled down to reveal a bikini, souvenirs from holidays in Italy, to the ‘market-stall awning’ complete with framework and multi-coloured lurex cover evocative of street markets in Forte dei Marmi, to the jewellery such as the penis-shaped pendant necklaces – a homage to the bronze phallus given to Andreas by Vivienne. The rest was classic Westwood – asymmetric, draped dresses with high splits alternated with looks that mixed masculine and feminine, irreverence and sacredness.
