Andreas Kronthaler’s collections for Vivienne Westwood always resemble or are great declarations of love from a devoted husband to his wife, his Pygmalion and muse. Above all, they bear the imprint of the revolutionary designer, as though her style has been passed directly on to her husband. All Dame Viv’s classics on the runway were imbued with the desecrating irony that Kronthaler also has in spades: draped dresses with splits and/or deep necklines, visible underwear, oversize tailoring, fluid knitwear, tulle veils, bizarre headpieces. Everything was styled with showy jewellery and accessories such as maxi earrings, chains, necklaces with amulets, long gloves, branded or patterned socks, plasticized tights, and bags of various types and sizes.
