Phillip Lim captured the exotic mood pervading the New York runways, staging his show on the Lower East Side and having his models parade in large fisherman’s hats with long cords that resembled conical Vietnamese hats without the point. The rest of the looks had a vaguely North African feel, with striped and fringed cassocks, dresses and skirts. This hippy-chic aesthetic was filtered through Sixties influences with bralettes fastened with big buttons visible under asymmetric dresses or layered over knits and mini-dresses, chainmail tunics and orange and yellow florals in the finale. Lim loves layering, though this season he bared more flesh than usual with cut-outs and cropped cuts.
